Although it is surrounded by water on three sides, the Wood Wharf site enjoys potentially excellent public transport links. The masterplan will seek to enhance these, for example by developing the first new safe and secure pedestrian and cycle routes through the site to Canary Wharf.
The emphasis within the masterplan is on minimising car use and promoting sustainable forms of transport such as buses, tube, cycling, walking and water taxis.
The development may also help to deliver improvements to local bus services and will make a major contribution
to the delivery of Crossrail.
