Southern Esplanade
The tree-lined Southern Esplanade provides an east-west link along the edge of the dock from Prestons Road and the community park to a new open square on the peninsular by the Western Basin. From the square, links are provided to the new boardwalks and amenity space within the dock itself. There will be a new pedestrian and
vehicular bridge across the Basin to Montgomery Street, and a pedestrian bridge crossing the new canal at the eastern end of the Esplanade. Both bridges are designed to allow for waterborne traffic. Much of the ground floor space of the buildings along the Esplanade will be set aside for retail or community use.
